Diethylstilbestrol (DES) is a nonsteroidal estrogen agent
used for sphincter tone incontinence in spayed female dogs.
DES has also been used for the prevention of mismating in
female dogs and cats (as an abortifacient), and has been
used to treat estrogen-responsive neoplasm. It is also believed
that DES may be useful in the treatment of canine allopecia
X.
